Thor: The Dark World

Phase 2, Episode 2.

Oh boy. The episode we've been dreading...for now. It's Thor: The Dark World starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Rene Russo, Christopher Eccleston and directed by Alan Taylor.

Pat has trouble finding a whole heckuva a lot to like about this movie, while Mike finds a lot of convenience in the plot development in order to move the story forward. It's a bit odd that the focal point of all the nine realms just happens to be in London where all the supporting cast of the movie are also just happening to be working....but we digress.

There is some good stuff in this movie as the ever-growing brotherly relationship between Thor and Loki strengthens and deepens in its complexity. And we get to see Frigga kick some serious butt...if she's not long for the MCU. (Spoilers!)

Enjoy the episode!

Yet Another MCU Podcast
A deep dive into the influences and connections of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Pat Whalen is a lifelong comic book geek.
Mike Field is a filmmaker and storyteller.

So naturally, a bulk of their conversations surround the world of the Marvel movies. Some consider the MCU one of the greatest achievements in modern-day filmmaking and others just think they’re comic book movies.

Each episode they'’ll tackle one film and discuss the differences between the comic book and what’s on-screen. They’ll explore the growth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from its inception to present day and beyond. And have a little fun along the way. You may not have asked for it, you certainly don’t need it, but you’ll be happy they’re here…we think. This is Yet Another MCU Podcast.

I’m a storyteller.

My very first story was about a detective trying to solve the murder of his best friend. It was also my high school girlfriend’s homework assignment. She got an “A” and then dumped me. I knew even then writers get no respect, but I didn’t care. I fell in love with writing.

In the beginning of every story, there’s nothing. It’s scary. It’s intimidating. It causes the best of us to turn tail and run. Over the years, I’ve learned there’s no greater professional satisfaction than starting that story and seeing it to completion.

I've been creating content for over twenty years, handling all phases of production and including promotion and marketing. I've made web series, short films, feature films, commercials and industrials. I’m a fan of organization, collaboration and other people’s creativity. No one person has all the answers.

And now, I'm a podcast producer and host for Forgotten Cinema, Yet Another MCU Podcast and much more coming from Forgotten Entertainment.
